Ubi jazz regnat
Written by Giovanni Greto

The Circolo 1554 Cultural Association has decided to host, during the ninth edition of "Ubi Jazz", blends of musical traditions of people all over the world, by way of ethnic and folkloristic music, without forgetting jazz, which is the theme of the entire programme.

This month, there will be sixteen appointments. We would like to mention Slowbike & Tetes de Bois (scheduled for Monday the 2nd): a bike ride across Scorzè, Noale, Mirano and Salzano. Following this there will be I Recliclisti, a show which re-evokes the Rai radio chronicle of the final stretch of the 1975 Tour of Italy. The Tetes de Bois play music, recite poetry and literary passages, and sing songs dedicated to the world of bicycles.

On the 12th, in Noale's Piazza XX Settembre, there is a not to be missed appointment with Ray Gelato's sextet. Raymond Irwin from London had an American father and a mother with remote Italian roots. In the mid 1980s, he started using the performing name Ray Gelato. This singer and tenor saxophonist starts out from the musical atmosphere of the '40s and '50s, bringing back the brisk swing of that epoch with a repertory ranging from Frank Sinatra to Renato Carosone.
