 The essential sense of writing is making, in some way, a thought eternal and immutable, succeeding in capturing, with words, a concentrate of emotions which, once experienced, would belong solely to the sphere of memory. Words give cognitive value to events, stop moments of time and reinterpret these moments according to the context in which they are used. Poetry is the highest expression of this mechanism, as it is the synthesis of rhyming letters, tracing the feelings of the human soul. For the Night of Light, a collateral event of the Venice Biennial which is dedicated to the theme of metamorphosis, on 9 Octobre on San Servolo Island, a place which has been reborn as a cultural motor of international prestige, thanks to the idea of the artist Marco Nereo Rotelli, becomes a place for first-time happenings, in the literal sense of the word.
The longest poem in the world will be the visible result of the interactive, dynamic action in which words can become forms, a collective work which makes tangible the idea of metamorphosis as knowledge. A becoming of things, ideas; a new moment of life, for concentrating on concepts belonging to different cultures.
And writing, a sequence of signs which form the collective memory, is the key to Rotelli's work, which remains fascinated to the point of ecstasy with Rongo Rongo, the mysterious and still largely unexplored written culture of Easter Island: three undeciphered tablets, preserved since 1925 in the Vatican Museums.

Poets such as the great Adonis and the Chinese Yang Lian, alternating with the Italian artists Marco Nereo Rotelli and Matteo Ferretti, and with artists from Rapa Nui, Pablo Hereveri and Johnny Tuki, become the protagonist of a collective performance, destined for the creation of an original, 150 metre long poem, the longest poem in the world, written on a scroll of recycled paper, thanks to the contribution of the Comieco consortium which is dedicated to the recuperation and recycling of cellulose based packaging materials.
