Men in black are coming…
Written by Sergio Collavini
thestranglers.jpgThe Stranglers on their way to celebrate at New Age (Roncade) on the 12th. The “Men in black” have been around since 1974 and their Ruby Anniversary Tour began in March and it seems its schedule (23 tracks for a 2-hour concert) will cover all the band’s history. Bar Hugh Cornwell, who left in 1990, they will be there in their original line-up with singer-guitarist Baz Wayne in Cornwell’s stead. Jet Black is almost seventy but, when at his drums, he doesn’t seem to notice all that much. J.J. Burnel is in great shape and Dave Greenfield’s synth will be sure to jazz things up. Have they seen better days? I wouldn’t bet on it. Just put in the mix their great hits No More Heroes, Strange Little Girl, Always the Sun, Peaches, Hanging Around, and Golden Brown; is that enough? By the way, here also comes great Lee Scratch Perry (b. 1936) - genius and wildness from Jamaica, an inventor and a producer since forever - without him, reggae, ska, and dub wouldn’t be where they are today. Again in April, the only concert in Italy of Comeback Kid on the 10th, a must-see reunion of Estra on the 11th, Bud Spencer Blues Explosion on the 26th, and DJ-set by Pendulum on the 30th.
