|Auteur Correspondence. Vik Muniz take on Collezione Cini|
|Written by Alessandra Morgagni|
Palazzo Cini Gallery will open their 2017 season with an homage to modernity. From April 21 to July 24, the second floor will house Afterglow: Pictures of Ruins by photographer Vik Muniz. An homage to Venice, too, it was born of a conversation with curator Luca Massimo Barbero, director of the Art History Institute at Fondazione Giorgio Cini. A journey through images inspired by the great maestros whose art resides at Cini, like Francesco Guardi, Dosso Dossi, and Canaletto, as well as a special glass sculpture. Muniz, fascinated by Italian capriccios and the Venetian art tradition, presents photographs of bright hues and three-dimensional effects iconic elements in the Collection. The glass sculpture has been realized in 1989 by Studio Berengo.
