CARNEVALE 2018 | Regular Reggae! Mardi Gras at ZanziBar
Written by C.S.

rr.jpgA special year for Rasta Snob as they celebrate their thirtieth year. For decades, they have been promoting and popularizing reggae music in Venice and all over the country. Their presence in the Venetia is so strong that it serves as a bridge between our city and Jamaica.

This year, Rasta Snob invites us to celebrate the Venice Reggae Carnival in the most famous venues in town, like the Biliardi in Cannaregio and the ZanziBar in Santa Maria Formosa. Ever since 1994, ‘Carnevale in Campo’ is the way to party.

After the February 3 preview aboard the RaggaBoat sailing from the Giudecca (Palanca pier, 7pm) for a cruising aperitif on the lagoon waters, on February 8 we shall all gather at ZanziBar where a DJ set by Bunna outta Africa Unite will officially start the party. On the following day, an exceptional live concert by trio Gialloman, Sista Habesha, and Prince David for a reggae-dub night with three of the best voices around.

On Saturday 10, the nostalgia train takes us to the land of poetry jam: Ho sognato Bob Marley by Alberto Castelli and Duccio Selecta’s vinyl collection. On Sunday, the appointment is at 3pm for the ecstatic Rasta Snob Party with Steve Giant & Friends. Grand Finale with an international Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras with Jamaican-British singer and DJ Robbo Ranx, the founder of Tippertone Sound System back in 1980s.
